Series: Earth and Beyond 5AUD Colored Fine Silver

THE EARTH, Earth and Beyond series, 1 oz Silver Proof Colored Domed $5, 2019

Royal Australian Mint has released its three-coin series The Earth and Beyond, showcasing our extraordinary planet and beyond. This includes:

  • The earth
  • The moon
  • The sun
  • The Milky Way

You can see that these are 4 coins, apparently the 4th edition of the Milky Way was not originally planned. These are domed coins. According to Royal Australian Mint Chief Executive Officer Ross MacDiarmid, the convex shape of the Earth and Beyond coins adds depth and accuracy to the design. The Earth and Beyond series marks the first time that the Royal Australian Mint has applied color to the convex surface of a coin. The obverse of the coin was struck from one ounce of fine silver and features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, created by Ian Rank-Broadley, surrounded by the planets of our solar system. The coin is presented in a beautiful presentation box with a numbered certificate of authenticity. The Earth and Beyond $5 Colored Fine Silver Proof Domed Coin has a maximum mintage of 5,000 pieces
