To celebrate the life and legacy of Mahatma Gandhi, in 2021 the Royal Mint issued a limited edition Gandhi coin in denominations of £2 and two pounds of proof silver, struck from solid, fine .999 weight silver of one ounce of pure silver. Designed by Heena Glover, the reverse features a lotus flower with one of his most famous quotes, “My Life is my Message,” while the obverse features the fifth portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark. These legal tender coins were minted using specially prepared dies and highly polished proof quality blanks.
