In 2013, the Royal Australian Mint began issuing diamond-shaped silver coins that correspond to familiar road signs. First the kangaroo, then the koala and then the emu. Each coin was minted from 1 ounce of .999 fine silver, also known as pure silver. The finish is Frosted Uncirculated - similar to a proof finish. The matte textured areas of the coin have a “frosted” appearance that contrasts with the mirror-like quality of the flat portions of the coin.
