This silver 1 ounce commemorative coin is part of the extensive James Bond collection released by the Royal Mint in 2020. The James Bond series focuses on a fictional British Secret Service agent created by writer Ian Fleming in 1953 who appeared in twelve novels and two short story collections. Since Fleming's death in 1964, eight other authors have written authorized Bond novels or novellas. The character – also known by his code number 007 – has also been adapted for television, radio, comics, video games and films.

Published to celebrate the new James Bond film No Time to Die, whose release was delayed by almost a year due to the coronavirus pandemic. This is the first of three coins issued depicting the Aston Martin DB5 sports car, which was used in the 1964 Bond film Goldfinger and has since been considered the most famous car in the world. The obverse of the coin features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: "ELIZABETH II" - the name of the Queen, "D·G·REG·F·D" - the Latin acronym standing for "Dei Gratia". Regina Fidei Defensor and “2020” – the year of issue and “5 POUNDS” – the face value.
