As a tribute to the aviation achievements of 1928, four “first flights” for Australia, the Perth Mint is issuing this magnificent, full-color collection of four coins. Minted in 2003 on behalf of the Commonwealth state of Tuvalu. These four proof silver coins are struck from .999 silver. They are 40.6mm in diameter, 4.5mm thick and weigh 31.135g each (124.54g .999 silver). Each is shaped like the Australian continent and has a full-color print on the back, each depicting a design from the pioneers of aviation's first flight. They have a face value of $1 and are each encapsulated. The set is housed in a luxurious wooden box and is accompanied by an eight-page historical booklet. Available in a limited edition of only 2003 sets worldwide.
