On the occasion of the currency conversion from the D-Mark to the Euro and to commemorate the Deutsche Mark, the German Bundesbank issued the 1-DM gold coin in 2001. 1,000,000 pieces of this commemorative coin with a fineness of 999.9/1000 (fine gold) were minted. 200,000 pieces were distributed in all five mints of the Federal Republic of Germany (A, D, F, G and J). The design of the gold mark corresponds to the original 1 DM coin, except for the changed inscription "Deutsche Bundesbank" on the motif side, which frames the federal eagle.
