The obverse of the New Gothic Crown designs struck by the Commonwealth Mint pays homage to the original, delightful portrait of Queen Victoria, with the legend in Gothic script.
The reverse shows the reverse design using the four shields of the original coin. Head of Design at the Mint, Jody Clark, created a wonderful portrait of SM. Gothic-style Queen Elizabeth II and this portrait, personally approved by Her Majesty, were used for the front of this new masterpiece. The text surrounding Her Majesty's portrait has also been designed in the original Gothic script, giving this new Gothic crown a classic look that will delight collectors for generations to come. Treasured by collectors around the world, this modern masterpiece will be a worthy tribute to the past and present, combining William Wyon, perhaps the greatest Victorian coin designer, with Jody Clark, the most collected British coin designer of the 21st century. An extremely limited edition, only 250 examples of this 1kg pure silver masterpiece were minted.

The 1847 Gothic Queen Victoria Crown is considered one of the most beautiful and sought-after coins ever produced. Work on this design first began a year earlier, in 1846, by William Wyon, and there is an extremely rare pattern from this date. With only 8,000 original Gothic crowns ever minted, this new release means more collectors will have the chance to own Wyon's masterpiece
